my fav (vegan & VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY) DINNER restaurantS (SORTED BY DISTRICT)
1010 Innere Stadt
Lebenbauer - €€€
If you’re looking for a special dinner location in the middle of the 1st district where you can enjoy high-quality vegan and vegetarian dishes, then Lebenbauer should be high on your list. I really liked their diverse vegan options including for example seitan, mushrooms or tempeh, while also fish is offered. Make sure to reserve your table (outside) and note that the restaurant is not open on the weekend or public holidays.
SeeSushi - €€
Japanese cuisine can be enjoyed on a whole new level at the unique Viennese outlet of SeeSushi in the historic Ferstel Passage. SeeSushi has long made a name for itself at Strobl am Wolfgangsee & luckily can also be enjoyed in Austria’s capital. The concept is based on small plates from their signature sushi rolls, over special small plates, to nigiri, sashimi, rolls, maki & desserts - each plate is crafted with care. We enjoyed the omakase - an unforgettable dining experience with the best plates selected by the chef accompanied with perfectly paired wines, sake and non-alcoholic drinks. Markus and his lovely team are truly passionate and experts in their cuisine and make sure you have the best dinner. Really can recommend SeeSushi for a night to remember (will be back for their lunch too and hopefully visit their restaurants in Strobl one day!)
Restaurant Limón - €€€
Located on top of the beautiful Grand Ferdinand Hotel, Restaurant Limón brings the charm of the Mediterranean to the heart of Vienna. Expect fresh pasta, vibrant aperitivo drinks, and a laid-back yet stylish terrace with a stunning view over the Vienna Ringstraße. Perfect for golden hour, date nights, or just a special dinner. There are many great veggie & vegan options (even the greetings from the kitchen was made vegan for me!) and the lovely staff truly goes the extra mile to make your evening special.
Figoletta - €€
New dolce vita hot spot in the heart of Vienna from the Figlmüller brand. From amazing antipasti, handcrafted pizza (so many amazing variations with a twist such as the tuna tataki or truffle one), cotoletta alla Milanese (an Italian classic with Viennese character), creamy pasta to tasty desserts (tiramisu, Amalfi lemon sorbetto, gelto etc).
1020 Leopoldstadt
Skopik & Lohn - €€€
If you’re looking for a special dinner experience with not only Austrian classics such as the typical Wiener Schnitzel (with an amazing potato salad) but also plates with a twist (the wild broccoli with spicy creme fraiche, teriyaki and chili was our favorite!) you need to head (after reserving!) to Skopik & Lohn. The atmosphere is amazing, the team super lovely and each plate curated with detail. Also don’t miss their desserts - from a delicious snickers dream to Austrian Topfenknödel (curd cheese dumplings). 12/10!
Neni am Wasser - €€€
Since last year Neni am Wasser is enriching the food scene on the Donaukanal and the place to be especially in summer. Haya Molcho and her family have done an amazing job in creating beautiful place with a delicious Levantine inspired cuisine for a dinner experience to remember. Pre-book your spot far in advance in order to be sure to get a table on your desired date & time.
Taquería La Ventana - €
My fav place in Vienna for authentic Mexican tacos if for sure the lovely Taquería La Ventana in the 2nd district. The authentic tacos are super tasty, usually you can choose between three flavours (always one vegetarian dish which can be made vegan without the cheese) and they also serve nachos with guacamole as well as tasty margaritas.
Salzi - €€
This new hotspot is not only a brunch and speciality coffee heaven during the day but a really lovely dinner spot for the night time. The carefully selected menu includes many plant-forward sharing plates such as pickled kimchi egg, hummus, sandwiches & turnip cabbage ceviche - really everything was so tasty, can highly recommend dinner here!
Pisqu - €€
Spelunke - €€
I was so excited for dinner at the newly taken over Spelunke & it even exceeded my expectations! The menu includes modern appetizers with vegan & vegetarian options such as burrata with figs as well as trout or hummus. We shared the “vegan love story” so cauliflower with hummus and vegan yogurt as a main dish. You can also order the authentic pizza from Viva la Mamma & of course you shouldn’t miss their desserts & drinks! We were taken really good care of the lovely team & will be back for sure!
Malka Kosher Restaurant Vienna - €€€
If you’re looking for a special Italian dinner experience, this hidden gem ticks all the boxes: comforting Italian cuisine and a stunning vibe. The Italian garden is truly beautiful and perfect for a lovely dinner with Italian antipasti (their homebaked focaccia is sooo good!), fresh handmade pasta, burrata, oven roasted veggies and amazing fresh fish.
Cucina Itameshi - €€€
I think this dinner has been one of my favorites recently in Vienna. The name says it all: Itameshi btw is the Japanese word for Italian cuisine, which is at heart of the restaurant’s concept: blending the comforting flavors of Italy with the umami depth of Japanese cooking. We ordered a variety of vegan/ veggie dishes from the menu and in particular enjoyed the burrata with peach, kumquat kosho & shiso; the udon cacio e pepe with pecorino as well as the crispy parmigiana with goma & scamorza. Make sure to book your table in advance.
Cafe Ansari - €€
Mochi - €€€
1030 Landstraße
LENZ - social dining - €€€
At this tasty restaurant located in the heart of Vienna at Landstraße, everything revolves around sharing. Their concept of Austro Tapas is designed to be enjoyed together and includes creative twists on Austrian classics. We enjoyed the LENZ experience, where you can try a lot of different dishes from the menu. Can highly recommend!
Heunisch & Erben - €€€
Located in the beautiful third district this restaurant has quickly become one of the favorite spots to visit for a special dinner with friends, family or colleagues in the last years. Although the restaurant is serving meat and fish as well, you can be certain that your food preferences are more than met, especially if you tell them when reserving your table (which you should as they quickly can be fully booked!)Pumpui - €€
1040 Wieden
Kikko Bā - €€
This Izakaya, vino, sake & beer hotspot is part of the Mochi family and thus has been already long on my foodie list. I loved the dinner and sharing plates from seasonal tsukemono, spicy edamame over japanese carbonara and fish dishes. Make sure to reserve in advance and in summer go for a spot on their lovely outside seating area.
Santos - €€
Mexican-inspired cuisine meets modern bar culture at Santos (there’s also a location in 1070 and 1020). You can enjoy tasty Mexican food with a great selection of fully vegan and vegetarian dishes such as guacamole with crispy vegetables, nachos, fresh salads as well as Mexican street food such as a vegan burrito bowl & of course their cocktails.
Asia Pavillon - €€
Visiting this hotspot in Vienna felt like stepping straight into the lively street markets of Asia. The flavors are bold, fresh, and authentic, yet with a modern twist that keeps every dish exciting. From noodles and rice bowls to delicious vegetarian and vegan options, each plate is flavour and really delicious - can highly recommend! We loved the Ji Si Sha La salad in a vegan version with carrots - it’s really worth the hype; the tofu dumplings, water spinach & the Dan Dan Mian! Will be back to try more of the menu soon!
1050 Margareten
If you’re looking for authentic tacos in Vienna, this is you place! The menu is changing every day, but there is always one vegan taco option with planted (for example tacos salsa verde, pastor, salsa roja etc.). The small taqueria can get really busy and then some tacos out of stock, so I’d advise you to come before the peak time (so before 7pm).

For vacation vibes in the middle of Vienna I can highly recommend to head to this lovely Greek restaurant. Located on the lively Naschmarket you really feel like you’re on holiday. Their famous hot pot menu includes a vegan set with seasonal vegetables, tofu, smoked tofu and gluten free noodles. Make sure to reserve a table in advance and bring cash (no card payment accepted).
Mariatrink - €€
On top of the Jaz in the city hotel you can find this amazing hidden rooftop bar & restaurant. In summer on Thursdays and Fridays there’s a special BBQ menu with tasty vegan & vegetarian dishes such as cauliflower steak, portobello burgers and of course signature drinks. The view is really stunning & it’s the perfect spot for a sunset dinner.
1070 Neubau
Rundbar - €€
You might know Rundbar “only” for their natural wines, while the lovely place is actually also serving a small, but carefully selected menu too. This includes for example (in summer) tomato carpaccio, while it is changing according to the season. I would highly recommend to check it out and don’t forget to book a table online!
&Flora - €€€
One of my favorite restaurants in Vienna is probably this beautiful restaurant located in the Hotel Gilbert. As one of my hobbies is to research „soft opening restaurants“ in Vienna, I was one of the first one’s to try the delicious food at & Flora already last year. Since then I’ve been lucky to experience their high quality menu multiple times and am always super happy when coming back.

As Austria's first mezcaleria, La Mezcaleria brings the authentic flavours of Mexico to Vienna - with reinterpreted classics of traditional cuisine and innovative street food in a modern ambience. The menu includes veggie and vegan highlights such as sandía gazpacho, homemade tacos as well as fish and meat dishes & of course amazing cóctels such as their typical mezcalitas!
Makom - €€
I love Israeli food and at Makom you can be sure to really enjoy authentic high quality plates. The menu is including loads of my favorites made fresh ingredients such as the shakshuka, the legendary cauliflower, the tasty eggplant in love, burger and much more. If you want to try even more their tapas are perfect such as fresh israeli salad, the cream labneh, the crispy falafel etc. There’s a really lovely outside seating area & I also love the aesthetic inside too!
Hotel am Brilliantengrund - €€
A true hidden gem in the middle of Vienna’s 7th district! This spot has a super charming outdoor seating area (Schanigarten) that feels like on holiday. The kitchen serves up delicious Filipino cuisine with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Perfect dinner if you're craving something unique & delicious.
Tian Bistro (fully vegetarian) - €€€
This beautiful dinner place is a heaven come true for both lovers of the vegan and vegetarian cuisine. The food is served in a sharing concept in the middle of the table and the menu adapted according to the seasons. One of the most famous dishes is for sure the beetroot „beef tartar“ which you shouldn't miss! The chef Paul Ivic has written multiple cook books which you can also buy so that you can try the delicious recipes as well at home.
MQ Daily - €€
Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier, MQ Daily is one of those places you’ll want to linger at a little longer. Whether you’re in the mood for a leisurely breakfast, a quick lunch between museum visits, or a relaxed dinner, this spot has you covered. The menu is wonderfully versatile from comforting lentil soup, fresh salads, and Austrian classics like Wiener Schnitzel, alongside creative burger options (veggie, vegan, falafel, or halloumi - even bun-free if you prefer, and with plenty of extras to make it your own). Pair that with their welcoming team and the sunny outdoor seating, and it’s easy to see why locals and visitors alike love it here.
Café O´pal - €€

Daniel Levai and Javier Vera have brought Vienna an exciting new gem with Artig - the ultimate spot for dinner, cocktails, and natural wine. The menu is a true celebration of Nikkei cuisine, and every dish is simply outstanding. I am always really impressed by their seasonal and regional Austrian tapas: from vegan aubergine and mushroom tartare and roasted cauliflower to beetroot dumplings and fantastic desserts - a must visit!
Oreno Ramen - €€
There are not a lot of places I could go every day to, but Oreno for sure is one of them! The (vegan and vegetarian) soups are super creamy and the lovely team makes sure to explain everything about their high-quality ramen and other Japanese specialities. The relaxed ambience is also really nice, so make sure to come & enjoy a ramen here too!

ASPIC - €€
Great creative food with super tasty vegan and vegetarian options. The prices are really fair for the portion sizes and high quality. We had a great evening and really enjoyed the excellent food. Make sure to check out their seasonal lunch and dinner menu, it’s really a secret top tip in my opinion.
Die Freunderlwirtschaft - €€
Located in the heart of the 9th district in the lovely “Servitenviertel” the fully vegan & vegetarian Freunderlwirtschaft offers a lovely carefully selected menu with delicious home-made food. I love their sharing plates, burger and mocktails (they really have a great selection!). In my opinion it’s one of the most beautiful “Schanigarten’” (outside seating area) in Vienna! Make sure to check it out and reserve your table in advance.
Das Drittl - €€
In the middle of Vienna’s charming 9th district, Das Drittel is bringing fresh energy to the evening scene of the “Ährlich” bakery from Tuesday through Saturday. The concept is led by the talented young team behind the Blue Lime Project. Their thoughtful menu features seasonal plates with a twist in a sharing plate style. We went to try their summer menu incl. for example stracciatella Austriaco with cherries, chili granola & rhubarb - a tasty twist on a classic, full of texture and contrast. What makes this spot even more special in the warmer months is their beautiful outdoor garden seating area - the perfect setting for a relaxed summer dinner.

From vibrant biryanis, classic Indian favorites to modern interpreted dishes and of course delicious desserts (the pistachio tiramisu was so delicious!) - we really enjoyed dinner here! Hari also offer weekly changing lunch menu and special dishes created by the internationally acclaimed chef Vijay Kumar, former head of Do&Co. This place had been on my foodie bucket list for a while and it totally delivered. Die Tackerei is bringing something new to Vienna: Austro-Tacos, so a combination of Austrian classics wrapped in a warm tortilla. From gulasch to to Schweinsbraten and even Blunzn, each taco is like a little flavor bomb. Their menu always includes seasonal veggie and vegan options such as the mushroom al pastor when I went - so good! Also their quesadilla with tasty cheese from Vorarlberg with typical Apfelmus was beyond delicious! If you're into fusion food or just want to try something new this spot at Yppenplatz is a must!
